With the launch of The X Factor USA imminent, Simon Cowell has decided to have another little blabbing session about Cheryl Cole's sacking from the show. Over the last few months he's made fairly regular comments about the situation - about how the audience didn't understand her/didn't get her/she was unhappy/he offered back her job in the UK but she refused/she's talking to him/she's not/she's grumpy/he doesn't care.
If you got a bit fed up reading that, imagine how Chez must feel hearing it on a weekly basis.
However, he's now given an interview with Piers Morgan in which he explains that he believed Cheryl was all wrong, wrong, wrong for the job. Eek.
He said: "I was talking to someone about this at the screening the other night and they put it very well - she looked a bit bewildered. Not everyone's like you Piers. You come to a country like America, it's a bit deal, takes a while to adjust." So why did he sack her, then?
"I took the view, along with a few other people, that she would have been more comfortable back in the UK."
However, Simon did go on to say that he took responsibility for the public hiring and firing: "That's what you have to do when you produce, you have to make decisions in the moment and I take full responsibility for it."
We're still unconvinced that Chez will accept this apology. We also don't know how well she'll take Nicole Scherzinger's admission that she cried tears of joy after hearing she'd got the judging role:
"Obviously I think Cheryl's a gorgeous girl who is very charming but for me it was an honour, I'm not going to lie, I cried when Simon told me because I felt like no matter where he had me on the show, I was going to be of service and do the best I could," she said.
Cheryl, however, seems to be moving on from the whole saga after launching her new shoe range last night. And now Michael McIntyre has quite Britain's Got Talent, perhaps she could resume her rightful judging duties there?
