Poor Lee Mead. While his wife Denise Van Outen
has been glamming it up on Strictly Come Dancing, he’s been slogging it
out in panto and then, for New Year’s Eve, left alone as she flew to
Dubai for the bells.
An onlooker told <heatworld> they spied
Lee looking pretty glum all alone on December 31st in Tsunami bar in
Clapham, south London.
They tell us: “He was drinking a fair bit,
looking miserable all alone as people around him celebrated the New Year
with friends and family.
“At one point he literally had his head in his hands. He looked pretty exhausted.”
Lee, 31, has been appearing in Southampton panto
Jack and The Beanstalk and his gruelling work schedule made it
impossible for him to go abroad for New Year with his wife. He only
managed to make it once to the live <Strictly Come Dancing> shows
to see Denise dance with partner James Jordan.
A source close to Lee said: “Denise and Lee’s
marriage is absolutely fine. He is exhausted and looking forward to
taking a break from work at the end of the panto to be with his family.”
Denise and Lee began dating in 2007 after
meeting on TV show Any Dream Will Do. They married in April 2009 with
daughter Betsy born in May 2010.
The 38-year-old actress didn’t seem too down in
the dumps without her husband on holiday, tweeting: “I'm loving this
holiday just a little too much. Can't wait to see @sidowen5 tomorrow
#party!”
