Baring all ... Gordon Ramsay
Says Gordon Ramsay
FANS of fiery celeb chef Gordon Ramsay will be served an unusual dish in his
new American series Hotel Hell.
The growling gourmet exposes more than just bad service — baring all on camera
as he tries a hotel’s shower.
Gordon said: “I do regret one thing — getting my ass out in the shower.
Because of the sort of secret footage, I had to take a shower like you do in
the morning. I know. I’m sorry.”
And although he’s the one taking hoteliers to task over their dodgy decor and
low standards of cleanliness, at home it’s Gordon who gets told off.
He said: “My wife yells at me for leaving my socks and pants and my knickers
on the floor.
“I react by just sort of turning the shower on and turning the music up.”
Cleaning up ... Gordon Ramsay strips for show
Gordon said for him the worst thing in the new show — which is expected to be
shown in the UK by Channel 4 — was the stains he found on the duvet cover of
a honeymoon suite.
He said: “The most horrifying thing across the board was the fricking
honeymoon suite. It was like a bloody house of horror, I swear to God.
“I just didn’t think it could shoot that far — I’m talking about if you shake
a can of Coke and open it.
“I mean shocking. Really shocking. Then I got the owner and every guest in
that hotel to come in my room and put a pair of glasses on.”
Dirty prancing ... Gordon Ramsay in the shower
Gordon said he planned to bring production of the show — in which he visits
failing hotels then gives them a make-over with a team of experts — to the
UK next year.
But he said that being so famous here would cause problems.
He said: “I’m going to have to get a mask and go incognito because I think I
have a recognisable face.”
Despite getting himself into some hairy situations on his British and American
shows, including his recent Channel 4 prison series Gordon Behind Bars,
Ramsay said he wasn’t trailed by a big security team.
He said: “It’s all very much in the background. I mean I just keep it to a
minimum.”
But, he said, his reputation in demanding high standards in hotels and
restaurants on his shows does have some benefits when he dines out himself.
Spouse grouse ... Tana is the boss at home
He said: “Food may take a little bit longer to come out but I enjoy everything
I eat, let me tell you!”
But he added: “I get upset when I see incompetence and I get upset when I see
laziness because that’s what I’ve decided to do. That’s my career. That’s me.
“I don’t look at it any different to sport because if you can’t win and be the
best, then we’ll continue aiming for the best. So, yeah, I get upset for a
reason. I don’t get upset to fake it.”
Ramsay said he was staying in the US for the Olympics but that his children
Megan, 14, twins Jack and Holly, 12, and Matilda, ten, were already getting
into the sporting spirit with the American diving coaches at the University
of California, Los Angeles, before they head to London.
He said: “The kids are all at UCLA today. They’re diving and they’re there
with the Olympic trainers and coaches. So we’ll have a few parties and
fingers crossed. We’re going to have a nice, long barbecue and tune in.”
