Cheryl Cole: I Promise I won't use autoToon

But BBC bosses may alter Geordie's voice

Cheryl Cole
Live at last ... Cheryl Cole

MIME artist Cheryl Cole has vowed to sing live tonight for The Voice’s studio audience – but show bosses privately fear they will need to autotune it before it is broadcast.

Cheryl will belt out her new track Call My Name in front of the studio audience at 6pm tonight before the show goes on air at 6.30pm.
That means techies will have just around 90 minutes to check — and potentially improve — sound quality before her portion of tonight’s show is aired.
Cheryl is well-known for miming.
When the beauty sang Promise This on The X Factor results show in 2010, she promised to sing live but mimed everything except for a few lines at the end of the track, leading to an uproar from fans.
A source told TV Biz: “Since then Cheryl has been working really hard on her vocals. Now she wants to sing live and prove herself as a professional.

“Everyone is supportive of her wish to sing live but just like when she was on The X Factor, her performance will be pre-recorded so there is a big safety net there.
“The show is called The Voice — the singing that they broadcast needs to be perfect.”
Cheryl’s manager and The Voice judge Will.i.am admitted in The Sun yesterday that he himself can’t sing and uses computers to perfect his notes, admitting: “I lean to autotune.”
But just last week Will’s fellow judge, The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue, warned Cheryl: “You can’t come on The Voice and mime. I won’t be clapping if you do.”
Whatever happens with her vocals, Cheryl’s performance promises to be spectacular.
The singer will leap on stage from a ten-foot platform into the arms of her 20 hunky dancers.
The other guest performance this weekend comes from Kylie Minogue — who is bringing a fair sized dance crew and entourage of her own.
Both stars have been given matching Winnebago trailers to avoid any cat fights as the talent show’s eight semi-finalists are reduced to four finalists.
