BARACK Obama was a leading member of a DOPE SMOKING gang while at school, a new book claims.

A biography alleges that the US President — whose campaign slogan was Yes We Can — used to smoke pot after class with pals known as the Choom Gang.
He favoured fully inhaling the drug and even imposed strict punishments on those who did not follow his lead, fellow secondary school pupils claim.
Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss, 52, said: “Barry Obama was known for starting a few pot-smoking trends. When a joint was making the rounds, he often elbowed his way in, out of turn, shouted ‘Intercepted!’ and took an extra hit.”
His book Barack Obama: The Story tells how the President — who is seeking re-election in November — was part of the gang which imposed strict sanctions on anyone who did not fully inhale a joint.
Trend David claimed the gang’s inhaling penalty trend was called “TA”, short for “total absorption”.
This was where members who dared to exhale before absorption “were assessed a penalty” and faced being “skipped the next time the joint came around”.
He added: “Most members of the Choom Gang were decent students and athletes who went on to be successful lawyers, writers and businessmen.”

It is also claimed that Obama popularised a trend called “roof hits” — smoking in a car with the windows closed.
David said: “When the pot was gone, they tilted their heads back and sucked in the last bit of smoke from the ceiling.”
The allegations surround Obama’s days as a pupil in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the late 1970s.
They are NOT thought to be a threat to his re-election hopes — as a recent poll revealed that 56 per cent of Americans favoured legalising marijuana.
Married father-of-two Obama, 50, previously admitted smoking pot in his 1995 memoirs.
Former US President Bill Clinton, 65, famously once claimed he “didn’t inhale” the recreational drug, while smoking at college.
