Comedy star Miranda: I hate being described as a big giraffe

Miranda Hart doesn't like the way she's labelled

Comedian Miranda Hart is sick of newspapers talking about her looks.
The star of multi-award winning BBC hit sitcom Miranda - and regular Have I Got News For You hostess - hates the way she's always described.
'As a woman it seems that you can't just be a comedian, you're always classed as something else too,' Miranda protests.
'Whether that's "beautiful", "pint-sized", "larger-than-life" or in my case "Hattie Jacques-esque", "the giraffe", "the big".'
Miranda, 38, has given up reading what people write about her.
'I had to stop,' she tells Stylist. 'If you read 60 even the strongest person would start feeling low.
'Reading those things has really damaged my self-esteem. The only approval I ultimately want is from the audience.'
Miranda bagged Best Female Comedy Actress, Best New Comedy and the People's Choice Award - voted for by the public - at this year's British Comedy Awards.
