...for ‘public intoxification’ (or being drunk in public – to you and me)!
According to a report by TMZ, Christina was “extremely intoxicated” and “unable to take care of herself” when she and 25-year-opld boyfriend, Matthew Rutler spotted driving “erratically” at about 2.45am. The pair were pulled over immediately and arrested as they were clearly drunk. It was Matthew who was found to be in control of the car.
The couple were taken to West Hollywood’s Sheriff’s substation soon after, where Christina was charged for being drunk in public and Matthew was booked for driving under the influence. And according to the L.A County Sheriff’s Department, his bail has been set to $30,000. Jeez!
The Sheriff's Department have confirmed that Christina Aguilera was detained "to ensure her safety" and that "Aguilera was not involved in any criminal activity and will be released when she can safely care for herself."
Sources close to the star have been quick to comment, saying they have been trying to get the singer into a rehab program for weeks.
